What's New in Cinapse — November 2025

Update
November 12, 2025

November focuses on reliability, clarity, and customization.
From faster, steadier performance to cleaner workflows and new ways to tailor your board, Cinapse gives ADs and producers more control with less friction.

This month’s release strengthens the foundation of the platform — stabilizing performance, refining the user experience, and adding more ways to customize how your schedule looks and behaves.

🎥 Pre-Shoot Days

If you missed it, check out our detailed deep dive:
👉 Introducing Pre-Shoot Days & Multi-Unit Day Breaks

This long-requested feature allows productions to represent multiple units working on the same calendar day with different day counts — while still maintaining a single shared Day Break.

It’s a crucial step forward for multi-unit shows, pickups, and second-unit work, ensuring clarity without duplication.

You can now designate pre-shoot, main unit, and second unit days directly on the stripboard or through the Calendar Manager.

⚙️ Faster, Smarter Managers

Every Manager in Cinapse got a performance and usability upgrade this month — built to handle larger, more complex projects even better.

Element Manager

  • Sort by ID, Name, Occurrences, Start Date, or End Date
  • For Location Elements, use the new Maps tab to view and edit coordinates directly
  • Faster filtering, searching, and bulk actions

Category Manager

  • Reorder categories with smoother drag-and-drop.
  • One-click button to switch back and forth between the Element and Category Managers.

Stripboard Manager

  • New quick-action button on each stripboard for edit, duplicate, or delete. You can still use the right-click menu, but this gives you another way of accessing these options.
  • Improved duplication logic and layout rendering.

Calendar & Events Managers

  • Full Pre-Shoot Day support
  • Assign Units to specific shoot days
  • Clearer visual cues for ON and OFF days

Together, these changes make Cinapse’s core tools more stable, responsive, and intuitive, giving productions greater control at every level.

🔎 Find & Replace Updates

Assistant Directors move fast, and updating a schedule shouldn’t slow them down. The new Find & Replace makes it easy to search across every breakdown field and update text in seconds. If you need to rename an element, head to the Element Manager. Find & Replace is designed for text strings only, not full element objects.

✅ Clean up imported data from Movie Magic, SetHero, or Final Draft
✅ Update names, props, or locations globally
✅ Replace specific field data directly from the breakdown sheet
✅ Search by episode and scene

No more tedious line-by-line changes — just instant, accurate updates across your schedule.

🌤️ Locations & Weather

Every breakdown now carries real-world context. Location elements now include maps and live weather forecasting directly on your schedule.

  • Integrated MapBox pins for each location
  • Edit coordinates from the breakdown sheet or Location element in the Element Manager
  • Weather forecasts refresh automatically for upcoming shoot days
  • View sunrise, sunset, temperature, and wind speed directly within your schedule

No external apps or an additional search are needed. Just open Cinapse and plan your shoot with full environmental context.

🐞 Fixes & Polish

This month’s release focused heavily on stability, data accuracy, and quality-of-life improvements across the board. Over 100 issues were addressed to make scheduling smoother, faster, and more predictable.

Day Out of Days & Logic Fixes

  • Fixed incorrect work status logic when a cast member’s first event was a rehearsal before principal photography.
  • Corrected Day Out of Days totals for pre-shoot days, ensuring hold, drop, and pickup counts stay accurate.
  • Fixed issue where disabling Allow Hold didn’t automatically disable Drop/Pickup. It now resets as expected.
  • Multiple work statuses now display compactly, e.g., W(FT) for Work + Fitting.

Imports & Data Recovery

  • Resolved a rare issue where Scriptation imports cleared event data in the Events Manager.
  • Fixed cases where importing into an existing schedule could remove banners or day breaks.
  • Updated import behavior to ensure duplicate strips are no longer auto-merged unless intended.
  • Improved .cinapse and .fdx import validation to prevent accidental overwrites.

Banners, Day Breaks, and Units

  • Fixed a bug where Start of Day banners could double-count production days.
  • Day Break and Unit Break banners now maintain proper day numbering when strips move or units change.
  • Fixed occasional miscounts when strips were dragged across Day Breaks.
  • Improved reliability for multi-unit shows with overlapping main and second unit days.

Elements & Managers

  • Fixed issue where newly added elements incorrectly displayed (1) next to names.
  • Improved category reordering. Changes now persist as expected.
  • Fixed search inconsistencies in the Element Manager.
  • Eliminated lag when editing or deleting elements in very large schedules.

Calendar & Events

  • Fixed visual bug where ON/OFF days didn’t refresh until reload.
  • Unit assignments now persist correctly after saving and reopening.
  • Improved consistency between Calendar and Stripboard views.

UI & General Stability

  • Fixed alignment and overflow issues on smaller laptop screens.
  • Improved performance and loading reliability on Safari.
  • Fixed disappearing borders on text banners during exports.
  • Clarified error messaging when a sync or import fails.
  • Improved reliability when working on iPad or in low-connectivity environments.
